Starting a new project is always exciting! One of my favorite parts of the process is when the design is finalized & I start selecting the glass. Sometimes clients tell me this part is really hard-- so many choices! But to me, it is the most fun. Until then, it is only a drawing but with the selection of the glass, it starts to transform into a window.
This one is especially exciting-- I am creating it for the Metuchen Library and is part of a much needed renovation for a community room in preparation to receive a grant from the Lemelson Foundation. Jerome Lemelson was a prolific inventor who had the second most number of patents only to Edison, an average of one a month for 50 years! The grant from the Lemelson Foundation will allow the library to upgrade the technology and hopefully encourage another generation of inventors.
The design for my window pays homage to Mr. Lemelson's inventions of many fun, kid-friendly devices. It will be brightly colored and I am using the very beautiful drawings that he submitted for his patents. Many more photos and information will follow!
