I was thinking about families this week as we are getting ready to go to Chicago for some college visits and to see my brother-in-law and his family.  I thought back on this stained glass family tree I created a few years ago for a client to give as a Christmas gift to his sister to celebrate their family.  The leaves have names of family members painted on them and then they are hooked onto the background tree giving it a bit of movement and texture.  As I was creating it, I thought about how thoughtful it was of my client to give her this very special gift.  Making plans for our Chicago trip with my brother-in-law, I realized my own family tree would be a lot skinnier;  my brother-in-law's 3 kids are 75% of my kids' cousins!  But whatever your family tree looks like-- skinny, fat, full of nuts!-- we all can celebrate our families.  I'm looking forward to lots of laughs and fun as we spend time together in the windy city.
