Although I bought my welder about 3 weeks ago, I haven't had all the "stuff" I needed to get started on any sculpture projects.  There were tools to buy (hello, Sawzall!) and then I needed material to weld.  I went to a metal fabrication shop last week and got some steel pieces but I really wanted some found objects to work with.  The guys at the recycling center showed me the big heap of steel and told me to wait at the bottom. So I stood there for about 5 minutes and pointed.  Then I  decided to climb up the pile myself so I could pick out my own  treasures!  Everything was super dirty-- greasy, muddy and, of course, rusty.  But I can already envision how some of it will go together and it will be great to see it re-purposed from the scrap heap into pieces of art.
