Now that the holidays are over, I can share photos of the projects I was making without spoiling the surprise! These two jewelry boxes were created from the old, broken stained glass window that I blogged about on December 12. In addition to the boxes pictured, I also made two hanging pieces and cufflinks. My client asked me to incorporate as much as possible of the old window into the stained glass pieces and to include a picture of the family member who was receiving it inside each jewelry box. She told me afterwards that when she gave the gifts, the whole family was stunned because they thought the window was long gone and they were so pleased to see it repurposed into something fresh and beautiful that they could enjoy for years to come. Including photographs into the stained glass made it so personal and thoughtful-- I am really happy to have been asked to create these family treasures.
