I feel very fortunate to be part of a group of women artists that meet monthly to discuss business concerns. It's a group of 6 professional women who create a variety of art and have very diverse backgrounds-- our meetings are always lively! One of the women, Kim Adlerman, is an author, visual artist, musician and game inventor. The story of how she came up with the game is one of my favorite examples of the power of creativity: the idea came to her in her sleep through a long, vivid dream that she couldn't shake even when she woke up. She spent months developing the idea, looking through the dictionary for compound words, and learning about what it takes to create a game. Compound It All! won a Parents’ Choice Recommended Award 2015; you can read more about it and order it on the Lee and Low website. Kim and her husband, Danny, also have a new book coming out in the fall-- check out their Facebook page for details. The perspective Kim brings to our meetings is beneficial for our group AND she's also a really lovely person! I'm inspired by how she continues to make her dreams into reality-- literally!
